Alef Aeronautics founder Evgeni Duhovny showcased a flying car that his tech startup is developing.
A video published by NBC clearly depicts the flying car taking off vertically and then tilting sideways as it flies over other cars on the road.
More than 3,200 pre-orders have already been placed for the all-electric flying vehicle, which has a planned flight range of 110 miles and a 200-mile range as a ground vehicle. The estimated cost is $300,000.
Production is scheduled to begin at the end of this year.
According to the startup’s vision, their flying car is designed as a “car drone,” capable of both vertical and horizontal flight. After takeoff, the car’s body, made of carbon fiber and other polymers, tilts on its side and extends its wings, allowing it to soar over traffic jams. The vehicle is powered by several high-performance propellers.
The flying car is being developed by a group of entrepreneur-innovators: Oleg Petrov, Konstantin Kisly, and Pavel Markin. The idea is driven by their co-founder, Palo Alto resident, Evgeny Dukhovny. It is reported that Konstantin Kisly and Pavel Markin, the developers, participated in the experiment involving the car’s takeoff.
