Rain began falling across all of California today, even reaching the typically arid areas of the Mojave Desert, where warm and sunny weather usually prevails. In general, the Golden State enjoys sunshine most of the year, with clouds being a rare occurrence, but today, rain has been falling since the morning.

On Thursday, precipitation intensified, bringing heavy downpours, strong winds, and the threat of flooding, especially in areas recently devastated by wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall in the mountains of Southern California could reach up to 15 centimeters, while coastal areas and valleys may receive up to 7 centimeters. Strong winds also pose a risk of widespread power outages.

In the severely scorched area of Pacific Palisades, evacuations have begun due to the threat of mudslides and the spread of ash.

In Altadena and other affected communities, residents are being provided with sandbags, and temporary concrete barriers are being installed. Burned-out areas remain at high risk of landslides, as the vegetation that once helped stabilize the soil was destroyed by fire.
